The premise of this book sounded interesting, if a little far fetched, so I figured I’d try it. It could be cute. Maybe even fun.Instead, I got an extremely well written book with characters that didn’t really draw me in. They weren’t that relatable. They were all pretty self absorbed, despite the altruistic reasons the hero and heroine were supposedly in this marriage charade. And to top it all off, the hero is made out to be an immature, run-from-his-problems coward!
Again, the actual writing was solid, but I just couldn’t make myself feel for any of the characters except McKenna’s poor computer programmer husband who got stuck with the lot of them. I’d have been stone faced and silent, too, in his shoes.

Marrying an Athlete A Fake Marriage Series Book 2 edition by AnneMarie Meyer Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I really liked this story. I think it is one of the authors best. The only thing I didn’t like was the rushed ending. Michael should’ve begged a bit more for Anna’s forgiveness before happily ever after.
I liked the characters. Michael was more than a stereotype athlete. Anna is a good match for him, if they can just be honest with each other. I was glad we got to know McKenna and Sam a little as well. I will read more by this author.
Each has loved they other for years, but each feels unworthy of the other.
When they finally think the other might share their feelings, misunderstandings and miscommunications make their insecurities flare.
I loved Anna and Michael. They make a great couple - fake or real. This is a short, clean, sweet story with an interesting plot. I was able to just sit down and read it straight through. It was a very pleasurable break in my day.
This is the first book I’ve read by Anne-Marie Meyer and I really enjoyed it. Her writing kept me flipping the pages to see how this was going to end. Anna has been attracted to Michael, especially since they kissed at McKenna’s wedding to Sam. Michael feels the same way about her, but doesn’t think he’s worthy of her. After the kiss, he calls out another girl’s name and pretends to pass out. They agree to go to Rekindle Resort to show support to Kenna, Anna’s best friend and Michael’s sister. No spoilers, but I will say you will enjoy this sweet read.
This was a great story that grabbed me from the beginning. I had to keep reading to find out what would happen. I loved Anna and Michael. They both had to learn that they were worth being in a relationship. I enjoyed watching the couple squirm while in their counseling sessions. The chemistry between the two was strong, but they had no clue what the other was thinking or feeling. I liked learning about Mckenna, Michael's sister, and her husband as well. The story moved and kept my attention. I do wonder what happened to some of the secondary characters, but it didn't distract from the main couple. Overall a great read. Especially for those that love secret crushes. I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This was such a funny read. Fake marriage to go to a resort to get counseling on saving said marriage in order to support a couple actually struggling with their marriage.
There was lots of tension, mixed signals, flirting, and a beautiful setting. I'd totally go there.
Clean writing. Good romance. Well paced.
My only criticism was the easy way out to fix the marriage that was actually in trouble. I could've read a whole book on McKenna's relationship with her husband. That and I knew chapters before characters what was happening with McKenna. How were the rest so clueless? Still, not a deal breaker. Enjoy.
