This isn't one that I've read, but my two children, ages 7 and 9 LOVE the familiars series. Their all time favorite series is Harry Potter (yay!), and their second favorite series is The Warriors series (cat clans). According to them, and a review on one of the Familiars books, this combines the adventure of Warriors with the magic of Harry Potter. I read the first book with them a year or two ago, and we thoroughly enjoyed it (I wouldn't say it quite compares to HP, but I'm a fanatic in that department!) The kids have read all the rest of this series over and over, and continue to enjoy them.

she loves it
This series deserves a chance to be converted into a movie.....why not? The movie industry is not at liberty to turn away the idea. To many sequals and so few originals like goose bumps and the now Whinne The Pooh; this would do well to be given a chance.
We've read the whole series and they are all good- my 9 year old daughter and I are equally hooked- we read it out load together. She's Skylar and I'm Aldwin)
love the series,the adventure doesn't disappoint. the story and the lessons learned along the way are insightful;love the humor as well. wish I still taught school so I could read these stories to the class. by the way,the illustrations are great. will look forward to the next chapter.
Um.. (looks embarrassed).. I wish I could say something about this book but I know nothing about it... all I know is that I purchased it for my 11 year old little girl (who admittedly loves magic in the first place) and she really loved the book.. wish I could say something more helpful other than just adding my own 5 star rating to the others listed here..
Jay Epstein in an amazing author for children. These books have taken my daughter on adventures and given her a new love of reading. In third grade my daughter chose her favorite book to make her "Cereal Box Book Report" and the Familiars was it. She was excited to share her favorite story and characters with the class and has since allowed several of them to borrow it as they couldn't wait to hear what happens next. If your children aren't quite ready for Harry Potter this is a great option with just as much adventure, but for pets.
This series was a gift for my sons 5th grade teacher and we ended up reading them as a family together before giving them to her as a gift. They are so fun and such a good series.
